Imran: I & Ranbir a hot jodi

ranbir-imran.jpg

The recent Filmfare awards hosts Ranbir and Imran are actually quite close dosts, this is how Imran sums it up.

Talking about his and Ranbir’s crackling chemistry, Imran says,”It’s equally rocking. We share a wonderful chemistry in real life. We are a hot pair and we enjoy every moment of our friendship. We understand each other very well.”

Imran then praises his jigri, “I admire Ranbir very much. I have learnt a lot of things from him. He has encouraged me a lot. He himself is a very hard worker. He works day and night for his characters. I really admire his qualities.”

He ends it up by saying that if they are cast together in a flick, they would definitely make a hot jodi better any other reel life or real life couple.

Do you agree folks?

SRK still optimistic about IPL

srk-wallpaper.jpg

While BCCI is breaking its head on rescheduling IPL matches in foreign locations, IPL’s Kolkatta Knight Riders Team’s owner SRK is quite optimistic about every change that is being happened to IPL due to its clash with elections.

Referring to change in the venues for IPL, SRK says, “Of course, the buzz would be missing here but I guess the elections will take care of it.”

When quizzed weather his B-wood buddies and his kids would join him at his team’s matches, he says,  “Yes, of course they will. Even I will try to be present at the maximum number of matches. As far as my kids are concerned, I will request Lalit Modi (Chairman of the IPL and vice-president of the Indian cricket board) to reschedule the matches at the weekend, so that my kids can attend it.”

Do you think if IPL goes international, it would lose all its fizz?

A whole new Salman Khan

Salman Khan has lost oodles of weight and his lovely charm is back on his face.

Those who saw him at Amrita Arora’s wedding were awestruck by his slim physique, thanks to his limited connection with smoking and drinking these days.

However some girls still like Sallu, as the good ‘ol large chested man, to which Sallu replies, “But I’m large hearted, so how does it matter?”

HAHAHA! good one Sallu. :)

Hrithik and SRK best of buddies

hrithik-nodedisplay.jpg

SRK’s latest friend from Bollywood is Hrithik Roshan, both of them apparently are bonding like a house on fire.

Hrithik and wifey Suzanne are always seen at SRK’s parties while SRK and Gauri make it a point to attend every bash thrown by Roshan junior and the bond is getting stronger day by day.

A source talking about a recent event says, “It was no occasion as such, just a casual affair. SRK was there for quite a while. Later in the night, the host and the guests decided to play dumb charades of Hollywood flicks.”

“The guests were divided into two teams of Hrithik and Shahrukh. Both sides did their bit of miming and SRK’s team was declared to be the winner.”

“B-Town is slowly getting a whiff of the SRK-Hrithik bonding. Both stars refrain from talking about each other. Hrithik is known for being extremely guarded while SRK has not yet given his reply to Aamir’s recent outbursts against him.”

Well best of luck to the new dosti in town, may you survive for a longitme in B-wood

Deepa`s `Heaven On Earth` passed without single cut

Deepa`s `Heaven On Earth` passed without single cut

Deepa Mehta`s "Heaven On Earth" is in censor trouble. Asked to drastically reduce scenes of domestic violence and to beep out a couple of expletives, she stood her ground, and not a single shot from the film has been cut.

Mehta, who is no stranger to censorship, said: "I told them I won`t make a single cut. And they were welcome to give me an `A` certificate if they wanted. They agreed. Not a single shot from `Heaven On Earth` has been removed."

Mehta is appalled by what she says are double standards in censorship.

"Correct me if I`m wrong. But another film, `Provoked`, had scenes of domestic violence. And Jennifer Lopez in `Enough` or Julia Roberts in `Sleeping With The Enemy` were shown to be far more graphically violated than Preity in `Heaven On Earth`. Comparatively my film has very little on-screen violence. We`ve just one sequence of domestic violence."

Mehta wouldn`t let the movie be touched.

"I refused to let them cut a single moment from it. Luckily my distributor Ravi Chopra was with me. He too would settle for no cuts. He said so many films with so much more violence get a `U` certificate. Films showing irrelevant gratuitous violence gets passed.

"But when in `Heaven On Earth` we show what happens behind closed doors, we`re told to cut it out. No way! You`ve horrific stories of young girls being beaten up and abused in Mangalore and Mumbai. If I make a film about it, they`ll see these things can`t be shown," she added.

Mehta said: "The violence in `Heaven On Earth` is not manipulative. Wives are physically abused in front of the whole family. Children grow up thinking there`s nothing wrong in beating up women and little girls who witness their mothers being battered actually believe getting beaten up is their destiny."

About the expletives, Mehta laughs: "We`ve a whole recent history of Hindi films filled with maa-bahen ki gaali. The kid in `Heaven On Earth` says the `f` word twice once when his mother tells him to fasten his seat belt. How shocking is that!"

Sighs Mehta: "I`m tired of the hypocrisy in censorship. You know, in the days when Asha Parekh was the censor chief they passed my `Fire` without a single cut and with a `U` certificate. The objection to the film came from the Shiv Sena. And now when there`s rampant violence against women, I was asked to cut it down. I said I`d rather not screen the film in India."

Preity Zinta starrer `Videsh` to release with `A` certificate

Preity Zinta starrer `Videsh` to release with `A` certificate

Preity Zinta-starrer `Videsh` will be released on March 27 with an `A` certificate from the censor board.

"The censor board objected to brutality in a few scenes and therefore Deepa and B R Films have decided to go along with the `A` certificate which would not compromise on the creative integrity of the film," BR films CEO Sanjay Bhutiani told reporters

The movie was being produced by BR films.

Recent media reports had suggested that the film is "too violent" and director Deepa Mehta was asked to tone down the battering scenes picturised on Preity Zinta.

"The essence of the film is to highlight social issues and domestic violence is one of them," Bhutiani said.

The film is a sensitive portrayal of a young woman who gets married to a man she has never met. She leaves her loving family behind in India and shifts to Canada only to face the harsh realities of life.

Big B and King Khan to share screen space soon

Big B and King Khan to share screen space soon

Director Vivek Sharma debuted well as a director with ‘Bhoothnath’, and is now using his above-average start to put his career in full-steam mode. The movie boasted special presence of Bollywood titans Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan. He is using the awesome combination again for his upcoming ‘Buddham Sharanam Gachchami’.

When only one of them is enough to saturate the screen space with their presence, the idea of both together sparks enormous interest. ‘Bhoothnath’ won big time at the BO, and Vivek’s production house ‘Film Zone Productions’ is targeting even handsome returns this time.

Vivek plans to start two projects by the end of this year.

“My first film is titled Buddham Sharanam Ghachchami and it is a very violent film. I am planning to have big stars in the film. My next script needs to have both the superstars. I have narrated the subject to Amitabh Bachchan, I have yet to narrate it to Shah Rukh. I am keeping my fingers crossed that he will agree to do my project,” Vivek revealed to a news daily.

‘Kal Kisne Dekha’, another flick in Vivek’s kitty, has been shot at various locales in South Africa and New Zealand. It stars debutants Jackky Bhagnani and Vaishali Desai, who is filmmaker Manmohan Desai’s grand daughter.

“The film is all about a young boy who can see the future. He has supernatural powers. I had signed the film before Bhoothnath but when Ravi Chopra approached me with Bhoothnath, I could not hold back. I was keen to work with Amjitji and Shah Rukh whom I consider my local guardian,” Vivek explained.

Talking of more projects, he said, “Well I am doing Ashtavinayak’s ‘Dil Can Fly Idhar Udhar’, a romantic comedy. We have still not zeroed in on the star cast.”

2009 a de-glam year for Bollywood babes

2009 a de-glam year for Bollywood babes

Bollywood heroines exploited their gorgeous looks to the hilt last year. This year the in-thing is being realistic and deglamorised.

While Katrina is playing a politician (reportedly Sonia Gandhi), Aishwarya is also shedding that killer mascara and lip-gloss for Mani Ratnam’s ‘Ravana’. The same is true for Priyanka Chopra, who is playing a Marathi mulgi in Vishal Bhardwaj’s ‘Kaminey’.

Sans make-up, Priyanka said, “It felt like I was naked. One is so used to make-up. But Vishal was adamant. Seeing his vision, I drew confidence and agreed.”

Dolly Ahluwalia, Priyanka’s stylist reveals to a news daily, “‘What all do you guys want me to do’, Priyanka had asked in disbelief. But once convinced, she was all for it.”

Katrina’s director was nonplussed about the vanilla look. He deadpanned, “
Sirf acting hi toh hai, koi pataal se paani toh nahi nikalna hai.”

However, he did appreciate Katrina’s dedication and discipline. “It is courageous to take up such a role. We have shot in real circumstances, with crowds, under the harsh sun, but she never threw a tantrum,” he said.

Mani Ratnam has had Ash dress in loose kalidar suits and had her hair put in a tight plait.

Ahluwaliya also stressed on the tough job of deglamorising such stunners. He stated, “Making these women look unglamorous is not easy, considering they are all known for their style quotient. We had to take all that [glamour] away.”

“Toning down measures include ‘clipping their nails’ and ‘decolouring their hair’, says Nikhar Dhawan, who styled Ash’s stylist in ‘Guru’, Nikhar Dhawan.

As an eye-opener, for ‘Kaminay’ Priyanka is wearing clothes that are dirt cheap by Bollywood standards. Her costliest outfit came for Rs 3,000, including the tailor’s fee. Katrina’s stylist reveals, “She herself co-ordinated her saris and chappals.”
