While Akki looked dapper in a formal black suit, Ash was her dazzling best in a rose coloured saree. The event which took place in the capital also had Aishwarya's hubby dearest Abhishek Bachchan in attendance. It surely must have been a proud moment for AB Jr. to see his better half being bestowed with the top civilian honour. As for Akki, this is one honour which he would cherish for the rest of his life.

Interestingly, the two Padma Shri recipients Akki and Ash will be seen together in Vipul Shah's film Action Replay.

Big B and King Khan to share screen space soon

Big B and King Khan to share screen space soon

Director Vivek Sharma debuted well as a director with ‘Bhoothnath’, and is now using his above-average start to put his career in full-steam mode. The movie boasted special presence of Bollywood titans Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan. He is using the awesome combination again for his upcoming ‘Buddham Sharanam Gachchami’.

When only one of them is enough to saturate the screen space with their presence, the idea of both together sparks enormous interest. ‘Bhoothnath’ won big time at the BO, and Vivek’s production house ‘Film Zone Productions’ is targeting even handsome returns this time.

Vivek plans to start two projects by the end of this year.

“My first film is titled Buddham Sharanam Ghachchami and it is a very violent film. I am planning to have big stars in the film. My next script needs to have both the superstars. I have narrated the subject to Amitabh Bachchan, I have yet to narrate it to Shah Rukh. I am keeping my fingers crossed that he will agree to do my project,” Vivek revealed to a news daily.

‘Kal Kisne Dekha’, another flick in Vivek’s kitty, has been shot at various locales in South Africa and New Zealand. It stars debutants Jackky Bhagnani and Vaishali Desai, who is filmmaker Manmohan Desai’s grand daughter.

“The film is all about a young boy who can see the future. He has supernatural powers. I had signed the film before Bhoothnath but when Ravi Chopra approached me with Bhoothnath, I could not hold back. I was keen to work with Amjitji and Shah Rukh whom I consider my local guardian,” Vivek explained.

Talking of more projects, he said, “Well I am doing Ashtavinayak’s ‘Dil Can Fly Idhar Udhar’, a romantic comedy. We have still not zeroed in on the star cast.”

Why am I still getting Mr. Bachchan's rejects, asks Naseeruddin Shah

Mumbai, Naseeruddin Shah, one of the finest actors in filmdom, has a major career problem - he says he is being offered the films that are rejected by Amitabh Bachchan.

This embarrassing state of affairs just after having delivered a hit like "A Wednesday" at the box office is quite intolerable to Naseer whose follow-up to "A Wednesday" is Jagmohan Mundra's "Shoot On Sight", a film which was first offered to Amitabh.

"There's no change at all. I'm still being offered films turned down by Mr. Bachchan. In fact, I'm surprised that 'A Wednesday' proved a survivor. I thought it'd get killed," Naseer told IANS.

After that Paresh Rawal's "Maharathi" too was offered to Amitabh first. When he refused to play the role, Naseer was roped in to do it.

But isn't Naseer being slightly cynical in his opinion that all the offers coming his way first go to the Big B?

"It doesn't take too much imagination to know whom a role is written for when the character being offered to me is described as 'a towering personality with a baritone'," he said.

Naseer even gets offers for characters with physical attributes defined by the Big B's personality.

"One script actually said 'with a neat white goatee'. Can it get any clearer? I can show you the scripts. And these scripts don't even bother to disguise whom they really want for the part. They feel I should be 'honoured' to be getting these roles!"

It isn't as if Naseer is resentful. But he is well within his rights to wonder why he has not been able to stake a claim to an individual and unique position in the film industry after 30 years of superlative performances.

In fact, the Big B recently said he wished to share screen space with Naseer, an eventuality that hasn't occurred after so many years in the industry and careers that started at about the same time.

"While I am getting all these rejects of Mr Bachchan, there's one role that I rejected and he eventually accepted. It's Kaizad Gustad's 'Boom'."

Ask Naseer why he rejected that one. "It stank," comes the prompt and straight reply.

Tehran Film Festival to honour Amitabh Bachchan

New Delhi, Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan has been invited by the Tehran Film Festival to receive the Lifetime Achievement Award. However, the actor is not sure he would be able to attend the event.

“The Film Festival in Tehran invites me to honour me with a Lifetime Achievement (Award). I wonder if it will be possible for me to go there. I have another decoration in Davos at the (World) Economic Forum that I have accepted around the same time,” Amitabh wrote on his blog www.bigb.bigadda.com.

The actor will also be flying to Paris for the Salon du Cinema next month where some of his films, including “Sholay”, “Black”, “Sarkar Raj” and “The Last Lear”, will be on screened

Amitabh Bachchan is No 1, says Aamir Khan

New Delhi, Amid the war of words between the three Khans - Aamir, Shah Rukh and Salman - the "Ghajini" star Aamir has declared that it is none other than superstar Amitabh Bachchan who is still the number one in Bollywood.

"For me Amitabh Bachchan is No 1. Do Lata Mangeshkar, Sachin Tendulkar and Amitabh Bachchan say they are number one? No one who sits on the top needs to say he is number one. Others keep claiming to be there," said Aamir.

Recently, Shah Rukh sparked a controversy by proclaiming himself the biggest brand and saying there cannot be any competition with him.

Commenting on that Aamir said: "I don't believe in competitions with others. I only compete with myself."

After a phase of cold war with his contemporary Shah Rukh, Aamir says he can't dare to fight with him.

"Do you think I could dare to fight with Shah Rukh. He is a good friend and so I can't fight with him. I respect him a lot," said Aamir, who was in capital over the weekend to promote his forthcoming film "Ghajini".

The actor, who was is town giving his fans the “Ghajini” cut at an event, was in a jovial mood but tried his best to avoid queries about his cold war with Shah Rukh.

He joked that by turning into a barber for a day, he was even promoting Shah Rukh's next venture “Billo Barber”.

His antics did not just end at that.

Aamir's forthcoming ventures is titled “Three Idiots” and the actor said the title should be rightfully given to the three Khans of Bollywood - including himself, Shah Rukh and Salman.

“My forthcoming film after 'Ghajini' is Rajkumar Hirani's 'Three Idiots' and I play the character of an idiot with R. Madhavan and Sharman Joshi. But I think Shah Rukh, Salman and I are truly the three idiots of Bollywood,” Aamir said.

He also cast a dig at Salman when he asked the crowd whether they want him to flaunt his body that he has toned up especially for “Ghajini”.

"Who wants to see my eight packs?" he asked. But when there was a loud “Yes, we want to” from the audience, Aamir said: "Only Salman can show his packs. I can't do it. It's not my cup of tea.

Bachchans' Unforgettable to tour India

Mumbai, After wowing north American and European audiences, the Bachchan family will go on stage in India with their 'Unforgettable' tour.

Confirms Amitabh Bachchan, "We're working on it. The details are yet to be worked out. Wizcraft is handling the project."

The show's first lap will cover the four metros Mumbai, Chennai, Delhi and Kolkata, followed by other large cities like Bangalore, Hyderabad and Ahmedabad, sources said.

Sabbas Joseph, director Wizcraft, told IANS: "We're in the process of working out the nitty-gritty of the Indian shows. One thing is for sure. We won't restrict the Unforgettable concerts to the four metros. They'll go to the smaller towns, depending on the feasibility, security bandobast etc. But after the response we saw to the Bachchans abroad we wouldn't like to keep our own country-men deprived of the experience."

Every effort is being made to ensure the concerts go to as many cities in India as possible.

"But in a phased manner," warns Sabbas. "We would have a few Indian concerts at a time to avoid excessive pressure on the time of the Bachchans and the star-performers."

The good news is that the concerts will feature exactly the same star lineup in India as abroad, meaning the Big B, Abhishek, Aishwarya and Preity Zinta-Riteish Deshmukh.

Reasons Sabbas, "Why should it be any other way? We at Wizcraft don't believe in two levels of quality, national and international. More details on the national Unforgettables will emerge. At the moment we're putting together the fourth season of the dance reality-show 'Nach Baliye'."

Sabbas Joseph promises big changes and big plans. "Naturally with so many 'Nach Baliye' spinoffs on television we've to make sure that the fourth season is bigger, more lavish and eye-catching and with a far more enticing lineup of dancing couples than before. The contestants are unusually-paired and the judges Karisma Kapoor, Arjun Rampal and Farah Khan have been chosen not only for their glamour quotient but also for their compatibility.

"We wanted to make the fourth season of 'Nach Baliye' different. I think viewers are tired of seeing the same contestants and judges in different permutations on all the dance-based reality shows."
